CRW TELESYSTEM MESKO AT THE DEFENSE24 DAY & SOFEAST CONFERENCE

Centrum Rozwojowo-Wdrożeniowe Telesystem Mesko was a partner of the third edition of Defence and Security Sector Defence 24 DAY & SOFEAST Conference, that took place in the EXPO XXI Centre in Warsaw on September 29-30, 2021. One of the first Defence24 panels was entitled “How to involve the Polish defence industry in the implementation of the Technical Modernization Plan until 2035”. The plan that is extremely important for the future of the Polish army and the economy.

The participants of the panel were Col. Dr. Artur Kuptel acting as the Head of the Armaments Inspectorate of the Ministry of National Defence, Col. Krzysztof Komorowski from the Defence Policy Department of the Ministry of National Defence, Sebastian Chwałek, President of the Management Board of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, Piotr Wojciechowski, President of the Management Board of the WB Group, Dr. Eng. Janusz Noga, President of the Management Board of CRW Telesystem -Mesko and Janusz Zakręcki , President of the Management Board of Polskie Zakłady Lotnicze. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Dominik Kimla from Janes.

During the discussion, Dr. Eng. Janusz Noga, President of the Management Board of CRW Telesystem-Mesko, pointed out positive execution by Telesystem of many research and development works concerning, i.e., anti-aircraft missiles, missile guidance systems for a target designated with a laser beam. He noted that the examples include work on smart ammunition for the Rak and Krab systems or the latest “Pirat” anti-tank missile.

The President emphasized: Thanks to the effective use of the existing solutions, the development of the targeting system for “Pirat” took 6 months only.

He added that the very design of an anti-aircraft missile is a several-years long process. Therefore, it is necessary to constantly develop and maintain design teams in those technologies that have been already mastered in Poland. The most important of them are undoubtedly the fire control systems, turrets, anti-aircraft missiles, and now anti-tank missiles, at least those of a shorter range. He said, that the “Piorun” anti-aircraft missile was developed so efficiently because several projects, such as, the warhead, the proximity sensor or the rocket engine itself, had been implemented beforehand.

Currently, Piorun is at such a stage of development that it allows integration with various other platforms. These can be small all-terrain vehicles or large combat vehicles. Earlier, the Grom anti-aircraft missile had undergone such a process of integration. As a result of that, Jodek, Biała, Poprad, and Pilica systems have been created; and nothing stands in the way of using other platforms – apart from Poprad and Pilica, which are already integrated – to follow a similar path with Piorun and its development versions – emphasized Dr. Eng. Janusz Noga, President of the Telesystem Mesko Development and Implementation Centre.

Defence24 Day is a conference devoted to the strategic aspects of national and international defence. The event is an environment for discussion on the broadly understood security and defence industry, by the representatives of public administration, the Polish Armed Forces, experts and the defence industry.

The conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Minister of National Defence – Mariusz Błaszczak, the Minister of Interior and Administration – Mariusz Kamiński, the National Security Bureau, the Ministry of State Assets and the Government Centre for Security.

TELESYSTEM AT MSPO 2021 IN KIELCE

On September 7-10, 2021, during the XXIX International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce, we exhibited our products together with Zakłady Mechaniczne “Tarnów” SA, MESKO SA and PCO SA as part of the exhibition of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A.

Together with Zakłady Mechaniczne “Tarnów” SA and MESKO SA, we present the ZSMU-A3B, a remotely controlled Weapon Module, equipped with the PPK Pirat short-range anti-tank guided missile.

The ZSMU-1276 A3B module is armed with a 12.7 mm HGM, WKM – Bm (made by WZM “Tarnów”) and the anti-tank guided missile Pirat (made by: MESKO SA, TELESYSTEM – Mesko). Due to the ATGM guidance system using reflected laser beam, the integrated optoelectronic module ZMO-1 (PCO SA) was expanded with a laser rangefinder -LPD-A designator (TELESYSTEM-Mesko). In the presented module, it was installed above the original ZMO-1, and the final version is to use a variant of the CLU-P targeting and guidance system of the Pirat set (TELESYSTEM-Mesko, PCO SA).

Laser rangefinder-designator LDP-A is also used to illuminate the target for the 155 mm APR 155 guided missiles for howitzers and the 120 mm APR 120 for mortars, as well as laser-guided precision bombs.

The prototype CLU-P targeting and guidance unit for the Pirat set, developed by TELESYSTEM-Mesko and PCO SA, also had its premiere at the XXIX MSPO.

The CLU-P targeting and guidance unit for the Pirat set is on display at the PCO SA stand.

We have also exhibited the MSR “Kusza” mobile missile system with Grom / Piorun anti-aircraft guided missiles. On the second day of MSPO 2021, our stand was visited by Brig. Kazimierz Dyński, commander of the 3rd Warsaw Air Defence Missile Brigade.

The “KUSZA” mobile missile system can provide autonomous anti-aircraft defence for independently operating military units.

We developed “KUSZA” in cooperation with Mesko SA and the Institute of Optoelectronics of the Military University of Technology.

The features of the whole set are its modularity and compactness, allowing the “KUSZA” to be mounted on light vehicles, including those weighing up to 3.5 tonnes, and on platforms. Thanks to this, it is also possible to use it in the Territorial Defence Forces, on small vessels and other, ad hoc defence points. “KUSZA” provides air defence up to a ceiling of 3500 m and a distance of 5-5.5 km (with “Grom” missiles) or up to more than 6 km (with “Piorun” missiles).

At the MESKO SA stand, one can also see the “Piorun” portable anti-aircraft missile system, the “Pirat” anti-tank guided missile and both APR 120 and APR 155 guided artillery missiles, created with the participation of TELESYSTEM-Mesko.

The tradition of the fair is the 9th edition of the State Security Leader Gala, where prestigious awards are granted for innovation and special achievements in the field of supporting the defence system and capabilities, as well as for actions taken for the benefit of state security. The “Pirat” Light Anti-Tank Missile Set developed by MESKO SA in a consortium with TELESYSTEM – Mesko has won the recognition of the Chapter. This system increases the ability to combat tanks, armoured fighting vehicles and helicopters. “Pirat” is also characterized by high resistance to the opponent’s countermeasures. The jury also appreciated the fact it is possible to manufacture “Pirat” from domestic components only. This makes it possible to become independent from the supply of this type of missiles from abroad. It also places Poland among the few countries with the production capacity of this type of military equipment.
