The GROM\/PIORUN missile system was mounted on the chassis of the IBIS self-propelled robot. The robot automatically detects targets using a thermal imaging sight and a day sight, and is also adapted to work with “friend or foe” identification system. It is designed to protect critical infrastructure such as airports, refineries, ports and for non-standard tasks, e.g., ambush operations. The targets are acquired by an external command system, radiolocator, IR detector or detected using own optoelectronic devices. The system operator remains in a safe place, away from the battle stations, and has the ability to coordinate the activities of several robots. After indicating the direction of the approach of the threat, the system takes over and tracks the target (video tracker). The target’s “friend or foe” status is determined and the operator decides whether to use the rocket. The robot is highly mobile, has small dimensions and long effective combat operation time of the system and is very difficult to detect by the enemy. The IBIS\u00ae platform has an independent drive on each of the wheels, which makes it easy to move in difficult and diverse terrain (rocky ground, bog, marsh and debris areas). ASBOP – PERKUN<\/strong> is a fast robot (10 km\/h). \nThe suspension ensures optimal contact of the wheels with the ground and thus efficient overcoming of uneven terrain, high stability while driving and the correct distribution of power to individual wheels.<\/p>\n
